Dave Edwards passed away, but he will not be forgotten, and was loved dearly by our local community.

Every year he lit up his home on a Saturday leading up to Christmas to mark the festive season, and the event became a fundraiser of thousands of pounds over the years.

Money raised from the light events have gone to the Peace Hospice in Watford, MASKS (Make a Special Kid Smile) and the Willow Foundation, as well as others. Among others, some of the guest list who enjoyed “turning on the lights” were:

  • Comedian and entertainer Brian Conley,
  • Former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson,
  • Billy Byrne from DIY DOS.

public #LightUpCroxley campaign encourages the local community to light up windows and houses to raise money.

Seeing the absolute amazement in the children’s eyes was a “sheer delight” when the lights came on. Every night when visitors came to see his house, Dave would pop out with sweets. He will be missed.
