Last year, in response to the Black Lives Matter movement and the Covid19 pandemic, we commissioned Herts Equalities Council and Brick by Brick Communities to conduct a report into where individuals from BAME communities go for support and what challenges those organisations faced in providing support to the community. This survey has formed the basis of discussions around how to improve communication with these community groups and how we can ensure that our services are as inclusive and accessible. We recognise that we’re at the start of this journey and are keen to hear from individuals and organisations to inform our work.

As a result, we will be hosted an online community engagement event on the 30th September 2021 between 2pm and 4pm so that we can have collaborative and meaningful conversations that start to address some of the issues that have been raised. We also hope to use this event to understand from local community groups that are supporting BAME communities what challenges they have faced in accessing funding/other support services and to improve understanding on all sides through solutions-focussed discussions.

If you are able to attend this event, please complete the registration form here and if you have any questions, please email [email protected] or call the CVS team on 07908 209908.
