W3RT CVS works with a range of organisations with different legal structures including individuals who are providing services to the community. Whilst all legal structures can apply for funding, your legal structure can limit who when you can apply for funding. One organisation who fell into this category were Truefitt Collective, a dance theatre company through dancing meditation to promote mental health and positive wellbeing in children and young people.

We met Kasia Truefitt, founder of Truefitt Collective at Watford Borough Council’s Creative Teacher Network and through follow up conversations, established that despite them providing services in the community for the past few years, were not able to access all the possible funding they could as this was due to them not having a firm legal structure.

As a result, and through conversations, we advised Truefitt Collective that they could access further funding and support more children and young people if they set up a new organisation, with a more suitable legal structure, in this case a Community Interest Company (CIC). Following these conversations, we began to support Truefitt in drafting the relevant paperwork to submit to become a CIC as well as supporting with drafting role descriptions for individuals who would like to support the CIC when it became incorporated.

Last month, we were delighted to hear from Kasia that Truefitt Community CIC has now become incorporated as the latest CIC working in the Watford and Three Rivers area. Kasia thanked W3RT CVS for their support, adding that W3RT CVS’ support ‘made the process straightforward’ and that ‘the support and guidance provided was hugely appreciated’.

We look forward to working with Trufitt Community over the coming months, helping them to become established in the Watford and Three Rivers areas and allow them to support more children and young people through dancing meditation. You can find out more about them by visiting their website here.
