Mental Health; collaboration shapes new support pathways
W3RT CVS in partnership with Three Rivers District Council set up a “Mental Health Steering Group”; a network of organisations who provide Mental Health support in the Three Rivers District areas.
The group’s aim is to lead on projects that promote and support people with Mental Health issues in the Three Rivers area, such as:
-
Listen to and share current needs from the community,
-
Listen to and share current activities and services provide to the community,
-
Learn from and share good practice with each other,
-
Access to information and knowhow,
-
Act as an arena for new ideas and innovative solutions,
-
Pool resources and combine effort,
-
Provide feedback.
Recently 12 key mental health organisations from both the voluntary & public sector met to provide feedback and guidance around Mental Health issues in the Three Rivers area. The outcomes from the meetings will help to support to the TRDC Local strategic partnership subgroups (Adults with Complex Needs, Watford and Three Rivers Families First Partnership, Community Safety Partnership and 11-19 Youth Strategy meeting) and planning for the future. The following solutions were discussed for action:
-
The group identifying gaps where individuals may be waiting months for counselling, and how community groups can help share contact details and reach out to those with other ways to support,
-
Potential service places for "wellbeing chats" that people can access locally – a light-touch solution while waiting for counselling, ran out of a safeguarded point or approved online places,
-
Providing reach support tools such as posters of contact details of these various services and light-touch activities.
The next meeting in January will discuss the outcome progress, successes and further ideas from other groups in the area.
