W3RT is celebrating "International Day of Older Persons"

In previous years, we have marked International Day of Older Persons by hosting events to bring together hundreds of local older people to meet friends. But in 2020 things have to happen differently so we are marking the day on-line and by calling as many of our Getting Together members as we can.

Our Wellbeing Hub, established as part of the response to Covid-19, has provided a vital link to help people connect and access support – including from an amazing team of local volunteers. Since being established, Wellbeing Hub staff and volunteers have:

  • made over 15,000 calls to support people at home;

  • delivered more than 600 emergency food packs;

  • collected and delivered more than 400 prescriptions;

  • carried out nearly 350 personal shops;

  • collected and distributed over 7 tonnes of food and PPE.

 Recent comments about our services:

  • … easy to talk to, lovely

  • …each week has made life a little easier…looking forward to the call…feel not cut off from the outside world.

  • …a nice feeling someone is thinking of you…

  • …makes me laugh, lifts my spirits, makes me feel good about myself. This week I was not feeling great, they instantly knew…making me feel better, & brightening my day.
