W3RT Trust facing new challenges as lockdown is eased.

Watford Observer interviewed Bob Jones, CEO at W3RT, to find out what the future for our community in Watford and Three Rivers will look like as we come out of lockdown. 

When asked about the current situation and what the plans were for the trust to support during this time, Bob explained how W3RT facilitate by being flexible in meeting the needs that arise at the time.

“As furloughing comes to an end we don’t know what’s going to happen...so we’re looking at what we can put in place to support..."

W3RT’s call centre is at the heart of the W3RT operational support receiving and reporting on all the calls coming in for those in need. And with a network of volunteers supporting from the outside, both the call centre and the volunteers have reported that there is still much uncertainty surrounding the security measures that must be taken when leaving the home. With the vulnerable being mostly affected, this is a significant proportion still needing support right now.

“As the shielding operation ends, 23,000 of those 30,000 are coping themselves. They've got deliveries from supermarkets, have friends, family and neighbours supporting them, but there’s around 7,000 over the whole of Hertfordshire who do need support and the responsibility for supporting them on a day-to-day basis..."
