Veolia offers cash boost for environmental projects in Watford

If you have a Watford based project or an idea that inspires people to do the right thing with their waste, then you could be eligible for up to £2000 from Veolia’s Recycling Fund for Communities.

 

Launched in 2017, Veolia’s Recycling Fund for Communities supports grassroots projects that protect the environment and encourage people to do the right thing with their waste. In 2018 the fund expanded to encourage more projects that demonstrated a positive impact on plastic waste.

Watford’s environmental projects that help to preserve local resources, deliver a positive impact on plastic waste either through prevention, reduction of single use plastics or promote the reuse of plastics are eligible to apply.

 

Watford Veolia delivers the waste and recycling service on behalf of Watford Borough Council. Darren Harding, Senior Contracts Manager for Veolia Watford said:

 

“In Watford we collect over 30,000 tonnes of recycling and waste materials every year, so we play a major role in ensuring the borough is sustainable. We know Watford residents care about protecting their local resources, and we hope that through the fund we can empower locals to bring their ideas to fruition. If you think your project, however big or small, could have a positive impact on the environment, we want to receive your applications today.”

 

On 3 July during London Climate Action Week over 50 people will gather at Veolia’s Southwark recycling facility, to see how recyclables are sorted and discuss their ideas to help solve climate change. As part of the free event, Veolia will help project creators to shape their ideas for protecting local resources, and provide advice on securing funding through its Recycling Fund for Communities.
